recently-opened as the
world's largest rooftop
counter-rotating restaurant-
lounge complex...It is
reached after walking into
one of two exterior glass-
enclosed elevators that
whisk people directly to the
rooftop region at 1,000 feet
per minute.
Guests enter The Summit
(71, 72 and 73rd floors) on a
stationary level, between
two counter-revolving plat-
forms, where cocktail pods
are suspended in mid-
air...Seating on this level
totals 154...The top-most re-
volving level seats 274 for
cocktails while the lower
: counter-rotating level seats
272 in a well-appointed
room.
Mirrored tiles. warm
earth colors, large wall
hangings and a wide-range
panoramic view give The
Summit a feeling of open-
ness...Yet partitions, which
separate groups of tables,

ate of the Culinary Institute
in Lausanne, Switzerland,
and former number two
chef at the very famous
Ernie's in San Francisco,
takes over the, kitchen of
the popular Walled Lake
dining spot.
Rene. who was head chef
and chef de cuisine at a
couple of top Detroit hotels,
is doing both lunch and din-
ners.

Maple, just west of Tele-
graph, the former West-
erner Beef Buffet that has
been transformed like
magic into a beautiful, in-
timate sit-down restaurant
for food and Oinks, has sud-
denly become a big conver-
sation piece...To Jack Coch-
ran, owner with son Gary,
"It is already far above any-
thing we ever hoped for!"
The biggest. comment. ac-
cording to Jack, is "We
cant, believe it. Your prices
are too cheap."
Joel Jacobs says that
"Beau Jack's has the best
ground_ round any-
where."...The hamburgers
he talks about are all pure
beef and molded by hand.
Some people who have
gone to Beau Jack's and
stood in line. left saying
they would never come
back because of it...But
couple days later they were
at the restaurant
again...which has to tell
you something about Jack
and Gary's new spot.

erie, which, . Earle says,
will continue to oper-
ate...Two deals for its sale
have fallen through and he
says he will keep the deli.
