Bunim, associate chairman,
executive committee, will
deliver brief reports on the
development of the day
school movement since
Torah Umesorah's in-
ception in 1944. A special
message will be given by
Rabbi Mordechai Gifter,
dean of the Rabbinical Col-
lege of Telshe in Cleveland,
Ohio, and, a member of
Torah Umesorah's rabbinic-
al administrative board.
Detroit chairmen of the
reception are Rabbi Samuel
Prero and Marvin Berlin.
Cong'. Bais Chabad of
West Bloomfield elected
Melvin Merzon president at
the congregation's recent
election meeting.
Other officers are Steven
Levitz, vice president; Dr.
Milton Stern, secretary;
and David Morrison, treas-
urer. The board is com-
prised of the aformentioned
and Erwin Hollander, past
president and founder.

gogue's celebrity travel auc-
tion to take place noon May
15 in the synagogue.
The auction, which will
benefit synagogue pro-
grams and the youth
groups, . will begin with an
Italian-style spaghetti lunch-
eon. The auction and prizes
will follow.
Co-chairmen Burt Silvers-
tein and Harriet Dunsky
are assisted by Ann Bend-

Farber, Inez Silverstein, Mi-

Max Goldsmith, Rae Mai-

ionist Eli Lipsker in concert
7:30 p.m., May 29, at the
Lubavitcher Center in Oak

Lipsker has become inter-
nationally known as a lead-
ing exponent of Hasidic
music. He has toured Is-

Temple University College
of Music where he studied
voice performance and his-
tory of music. He taught at
the Gratz College and in
1975 joined the faculty of
the Reconstructionist Rabbi-
nical College.
Cantor Maissner is pur-
suing graduate studies at
the Philadelphia Music
Academy in voice and act-
ing and is a member of the
Mendelsohn Choir of Phila-
delphia. He has been cantor
at the Germantown Jewis
Center since 1967.

A descendant of cantors,
Cantor Miller studied at the
Bobover Yeshiva Bnai Zion
in Brooklyn and at age 15
studied at the Bobover
Yesh-iva Kedushas Zion at
Kiryat Bobov Bat Yam, Is-
rael. He studied for the can-
torate under the direction
of his father and Cantor
Samuel B. Taube of Mon-
treal. He studied music at
La Scala Champagne in
Montreal and _under Cantor
Taube's tutelage.
He held his first position
as cantor at age 18 and
later served major congre-
gations in Brooklyn, the
Bronx, Montreal and is cur-
rently cantor at the Shaarei
Tefillah Congregation in To-
ronto.
