Israel Angry Over Syrian Intrusion

TEL AVIV (JTA)—Israel
has lodged a formal corn—
plaint with the United Na-
tions Disengagement Ob-
server Force (UNDOF)
over the flight of two Syr-
ian MIG-17s over Israeli po-
sitions on Mt. Hermon in
the Northern Golan Heights
Tuesday. The planes were
driven off by ( Israeli anti-
aircraft fire.

Military sources said they
were obviously on a photo-
reconnaissance mission
since they made several
passes over the Israeli posi-

tions. The sources said it
was possible that Syria-
may be deliberatly
to create tension along the--
Golan Heights demarcation
line prior to renewal of the
UNDOF mandate which ex-
pires May 30.
Meanwhile. Israeli sap-
pers are inspecting fire ex-
tinguishers on buses after a
bomb was discovered con-
cealed in an extinguisher on
a bus near Tel Aviv. The
bomb was found in a rou-
tine inspection and police
decided to check all ex-
tinguishers on buses.
