Composer, Philo-Semite,
Robert Stolz's Legacy Lives
By MARGUERITE
KOZENN CHAJES
The international fame of
Robert Stolz, the last of the
Austrian operetta kings,
continues undeminished, al-
though he passed away
about two years ago.
Stolz's fame continues
due to the efforts of his
widow, Mme. Einzi Stolz,
who accepts invitations to
various countries, where
Stolz's music remains very
popular. The cassettes pre-
senting Johann Strauss
works, conducted by Robert
Stolz were recently re-
leased and are already on
the best-seller lists in Eu-
rope, USA, Canada, Austral-
ia, Japan and Israel.
May 2-18 there will be a
Robert Stolz festival in the
St. Wolfgang spa in Austria.
Stolz was an honorary citi-
zen of St. Wolfgang, be-
cause of his music to the op-
eretta "the White Horse
Inn." The St. Wolfgang citi-
zens are naming a prome-
nade and are setting up a
monument after him. Anoth'
er unveiling of a Stolz mon-
ument will take place in the
West German spa Baden-
Baden, where he composed
the popular song. "In Front
of My Father's House
There Stands a Linden
Tree."
This June National Bel-
gian Television will feature
a concert of Stolz works.
In the fall, Stolz's great
dream of presenting Her-
Mann Bahr's well-known
play, "The Concert," with
Stolz's incidental music will
be realized in a world pre-
miere in Vienna.

Theodore Herzl's biography
will remember that —Bahr

of Herzl and later on be-

friend.
Robert Stolz was a Chris-
tian, who was always very
kindly disposed towards the
Jews. During World War II,
he helped Jewish refugees
in France and upon his ar-
rival in the US, his home be-
came a haven for many
noted Europeans, who had
fled from abroad.
