Organized in Detroit in 1916 when national Hadas- sah was five years old, the Detroit chapter evolved from its small beginning group, to separate Detroit and South Oakland County sections; and finally, during the term of Mrs. Charles Snider (then South Oakland County president) the De- troit Metropolitan Chapter and its subdivisions of 19 groups was formed. Mrs. Snider became the first chapter president. Mrs. Jack Perlman was president of the Detroit group when the merger took place between the De- troit organization and South Oakland Hadassah. Mrs. Ralph (Sally) David- son is the oldest living past president of Detroit Hadas- sah. Mrs. Peter A. Martin is the current president of the Metropolitan Detroit Chapter. Mrs. Abraham M. Hershman was the founding president.
