had her favorite, the petite
baby frog legs...Both were
excellent.
Owner Frank Stratton's
son, Frank, has taken a
leave from his hotel and res-
taurant management
course at Michigan State to
spend more time at the eat-
ery...that is, if you want to
call morning, noon and
night more time...There's
nothing greater than on-the-
spot education... and that's
just what the younger
Frank is getting..
PEOPLE WHO take To-
pinka's Country House on
Telegraph and W. Seven
Mile Rd. for granted when
seeking a place to dine are
foolish...Owner- Al Balooly
has an excellent selection
of quality food... and it is
probably one of the finest
decorated eating places in
the Midwest...always a
showplace to see.

ANSWERS TO
QUERIES... As far as we

know, first delicatessen on
Dexter Blvd. was before
our time...London's, about
EVER HAVE A chopped
sirloin at Jakks, Greenfield
and 10 Mile?...It's among
the best....Also, if you enjoy
filet mignon, Jakks has one
hard to beat.
OUT — OF ARABIAN
Nights comes the name
1001 Nights, new title of for- -
mer Angel's Hour Glass on
W. McNichols, which was
recently sold to Monsour
"Mason" Baydoun and Ra-
mez "Roger" Hazimeh...Is
open seven days. a week
with goth American and
Lebanese menu...American
dancing for the public re-
mains...and former owner,
Angel Panek, will stay on
to help out for about a
month.

TYPO ERROR...Correct

spelling is Joe Rosanova at
Top 0' The Pontch.

THE SAYING THAT

good things come in small
packages is sometime appli-
cable to a restaurant...A 50-
seating capacity is not very
much for a full scale dining
spot...which is why food
quality and preparation
must be the absolute
best...There is no second
chance for error.
This is the case of Athe-
nian Cuisine on Southfield
and 10 Mile...owned by Pete
Laskaris, former chef at
various Greektown restau-
rants, and Terry Karimalis.
Everything is made on
the spot...only fresh vege-
tables are used...Besides
the regular Greek salad, it
has an Athenian Special
Salad which we found deli-
cqusly interesting (hard-
boiled eggs, beets, to-
matoes, lettuce, hearts of
artichokes, feta cheese, cu-
cumbers, black olives,
green peppers) with the
most items seen in a Greek
salad.
Our -combinatrion dinner
of baby lamb chops, pas-
titsio, mousaka, very ten-
der roast leg of lamb,
stuffed grape leaves and
spinach pie was most de-
lightful.
Small • onder that folks
are calling Athenian Cui-
sine their little Greek
jewel.
BUSINESS HAS in-
creased • 45 percent at
Adam's Rib on Greenfield
at 10 Mile says Manager

Gary Rankin...Gives reason
as being due to full-time
owner and manager oper-
ation setup as of Nov.
15...rather than it being run
strictly by employees.
A SMALL COUNTER and
stool spot is Albert's ham-
burger operation on Grand
River between Lahser and
Six Mile...but the sand-
wiches are very good...And
most important, the bur-
gers are fresh from hand-
pressed meat.
NICK LORANTE, consult-
ant, buyer, etc. for Staf-
ford's restaurants, tells
about having to keep replac-
ing the "No Smoking"
signs...It is as if people ex-
pect them to become relics.

regarding that "No Smok-
ing" section law...If the
place is crowded and these
people don't mind sitting in
the regular area, perhaps
have a mimeographed
paper for them to
sign...that it was of their
own volition...might prevent
possible litigation or emba-
rassment if a person should
get sick at a later
date...and say the restau-
rant was at fault.

THE SCENE AFTER

waving a magic wand
couldn't have been - any
more stunning ..We mean
the unbelievable 150-seat
transformation of the for-
mer Westerner Beef Buffet
to a now casual, intimate
restaurant and cocktail
lounge.
Known as Beau Jacks, on
Maple, just west of Tele-
graph, interior designer
Jack Perlmutter did a
great job in changing what
before had been a cafe-
teria-style operation into an
extremely delightful Eng-
lish Tudor setting, with
high beams, pewter plates
and candles on the walls,
soft lights and tree
branches within a brick
standard.
Example of how owners
Jack and son Gary Cochran
are running the new oper-
ation, our son Scott ordered
a Delmonico
