They've got a tough com-

at the Gallery there ... He
also served delicatessen
and pancakes ... plus a
bevy of good meals at very
reasonable prices.
We went to the Gallery
with son Scott for dinner re-
cently and had a very de-
licious piece of liver smoth-
ered with onions ... home-
made mushroom barley
soup, salad and potatoes ...
With coffee for us and pop
for Scott, each meal was
still less than $4.
The Gallery, by the way,
is an unsung spot when it
comes to omelets ... espe-
cially westerns ... cracking
open ,probably more eggs
than anyone else in the
area.

Focal point of the new De-

the promenade level, which
forms the base of a stun-
ning eight-story atrium
lobby area ... The atrium is
crossed by five levels of ae-

and escalators. and cano-

light ... Sun filters onto
scenes of park-like am-

in mid-air ... thousands of
gold mums accenting earth-

water rushing down a
three-story pylon, then
splashing into a giant re-
flecting pool.
Within the pool's confines
is the Inner Circle Lounge,
a revolving cocktail island
that seems to float on the
water's surface ... The
lounge offers a private view
of atrium activity, with
access provided by spiral
staircases located in the
center of the level above.
Also on the promenade
level are La Fontaine, an
elaborate specialty continen-
tal dining room featuring a
white marble fountain and
private dining areas; the
Cafe Renaissance, a side-
walk cafe with its own "ter-
race" next to the pool; the
Coffee Garden, a moder-
ately-priced 24-hour restau-
rant which includes 12 in-
timate circular seating
areas; the Cafe Express, a
new concept in hotel fast-
food service: The Celebra-
tion, a semi-circular night
club featuring continuous
entertainment; and the Gal-
leria Bar. an alcove situat-
ed between The Celebration
and La Fontaine containing
a recessed circular bar and
cocktail lounge.
