WUJS School 0 ffers Students
Year of Study, Work in Israel

ARAD, Israel—The Inter-
national Graduate Center
for Hebrew and Jewish
Studies (the WUJS In-
stitute), affiliated with the
World Union of Jewish Stu-
dents, offers a five-month
course in Hebrew and Jew-
ish studies. Students learn
Hebrew 24 hours per week
and Jewish studies 12 hours
per week. In the course of
five months, the institute
provides trips to Jerusa-
4.1em, the Galilee, Golan and
the Negev. Also, as part of
the study program, students
spend about two weeks liv-
ing and working on a ki-
butz. The kibutzim chosen
are small and in .the proc-
ess of developing, often in a
border area.
Following the five-month
academic term, each stu-
dent will be expected to
find employment in Israel.

The institute provides an
employment information
service to help students in
the search for suitable jobs.
Students live in self-con-
tained, two-bedroom fur-
nished apartments at the in-
stitute. There are two stu-
dents per room, and single
apartments are available
for married couples. Meals
at the institute are served
in a dining hall, and kash-
rut is observed. The in-
stitute also has its own li-
brary and synagogue.
The institute is located in
the development town of
Arad, situated in the hills
overlooking the Dead, Sea,
and each student who
wishes, can be "adopted"
by a local family.

Velikovsky's Disputed 'Worlds
'in Collision' Now in Paperback

A quarter of a century
'Worlds in Collision"
mmanuel Velikovsky
a best seller and for a
long time was the subject
of great controversy.
Pocket Books, the Simon
and Schuster division,
views it as of continuing in-
terest and has reissued the
ok as a paperback.
In his look, Velikovsky
examines • the biblical ac-
counts of the plagues of
;,Egypt, the parting of the
Red Sea, manna from heav-
en, and others, and devel-
ops a series of hypotheses
- linking these events with
spectacular convulsions in
outer space. -
Through the analysis of
.n the and stories from
other nations' ancient liter-
ature, and synthesizing
such diverse disciplines as
enetics, physics, astron-
omy and geology, Veli-
- kovsky concludes that the

biblical accounts are not
parables or metaphors, but
the recorded impressions of
phenomena resulting from
physical forces which had
violently interrupted the
earth's path around the
sun.
Most of Velikovsky's con-
temporaries refused to even
consider his theories. How-
ever, the moon landings
and U.S. and Soviet space
probes of recent years have
caused scientists to take an-
other look at Velikovsky's
theories about the universe,
many of which-are now ac-
cepted as fact.
