Passover cooking is nor-
mally associated with
heavy, hard-to-digest foods.
But this need not neces-
sarily be the case, as illus-
trated by the two examples
below from an excellent
Passover cookbook called
"Pesach Cookbook" pub-
lished by the Sisterhood of
Congregation Beth Pinchas,
1710 Beacon St., Brookline,
Mass. 02146. (Cost is $4 plus
60 cents for postage an

Malamud Tells
of JeWish Identity

NEW YORK (JTA)—Ber-
nard Malamud, the novelist
whose 'characters live out
their lives in a strongly Jew-
ish metaphor, has informed
a Bnai Brith audience that
his own childhood was not
"particularly religious" but
that "at a certain point in
my youth I felt the need to
define myself as a Jew."
Malamud made those com-
ments in accepting the Bnai
Brith annual Jewish Heri-
tage Award for excellence
in literature.

Israel Regulates
Tourist Services

NEW YORK--"Israel's
Tourism Services' Law,
which came into effect re-
cently, will increase safe-
guards for tourists' rights,"
said Israel Zuriel, Israel
Commissioner for Tourism
in North- America.
Under the law, tourist
services may not set,"un-
reasonable conditions" such
as demands by hotels that
tourists stay for more than
one night. -The new law also
prohibits tour-guides from
accepting commissions
from shops or' restaurants
to which they take tourists.
Israel is also considering
requirements that hotels in-
sure both their guests and
their guests' property, and
that travel agents and tour
operators deposit securitie
with the Israel Ministry
Tourism, guaranteeing fu
fillment of their com-
mitments to both tourists
and suppliers.
