16 Friday, March 25, 1977 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Allied Jewish Campaign Opening Due at Adat Shalom Wednesday "One People—One Heart," the slogan of a new volunteer movement in Is- rael, has special meaning for those who will attend the opening reception and dinner of the 1977 Allied Jewish Campaign-Israel Emergency Fund, 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. The month-long Allied Jewish Campaign, like the movement in Israel, de- pends on Jewish hearts reaching out to help Jewish people all over the world, said AJC-IEF General Chairman Daniel M. Honig- man. The main speaker at the opening will be Michigan's junior U.S. Senator, Donald W. Riegle, Jr. Democrat Riegle is a staunch suppor- ter of Israel, which he has called "the only real democ- racy and the steadiest friend of the United States in the Middle East." Rabbi Seymour Rose- nbloom of Adat Shalom will deliver the invocation. Jew- ish .Welfare Federation President Martin E. Citrin will welcome the guests. As presiding officer, Honigman will introduce the Cam- paign leaders and report on the pre-Campaign progress of the various divisions. Campaign cochairmen Ir- ving Seligman, Phillip Stoll- man and Philip T. Warren will also participate. After Senator Riegle's ad- dress, Sol Drachler, execu- tive director of the Jewish Welfare Federation, will an- nounce the campaign total to date. The other speaker will be Jonathan Livny, a Jerusa- lem lawyer who formerly served as attorney general in the Israel-administered West Bank and as executive assistant to the Minister of Tourism.
