Independence Week Activities Scheduled at Center

In observance of the
29th anniversary of the
state of Israel, the Jewish
Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit will
hold its annual Israel In-
dependence Week celeb-
ration April 16-24 at the
Center's main building in
West Bloomfield.
The opening night re-
ception April 16 will
honor Israeli artists Ella
and Shmuel. Raayoni,
whose work will be on dis-
play the entire week..
The Raayonis work in
different media —
Shmuel in oils and water-

colors and Ella in textiles.
Their works hang in
museums and galleries
throughout the world, ac-
cording to exhibit chair-
man Sheila Lipshutz.
A special Memorial Ser-
vice will be held April 19,
co-sponsored by the Cent-
er's Hebrew Department.
The service will pay tri-
bute to those who fell in Is-
rael's Wars of Liberation.
