Redlich Kohn, who helped
250 Austrian and German
Jewish refugees escape
from Nazism, died March
13 at age 81.

started by her father,
Mrs. Kohn began her rel

she was married to the
late Milton Redlich. She
received a letter from an
Austrian stranger with
the same surname, Hansi
RedliCh.
The Austrian writer
had learned there was a
Redlich in the Manhattan
telephone direCtory and
Was appealing for an af-
fidavit of support to ena-
bleher to emigrate to the
U.S.
The then Mrs. Redlich
executed the affidavit, and
Miss Redlich crossed the
Atlantic and later became
a successful dress de-
signer in New York.
Word got around about
the former Mrs. Redlich's
efforts and during the
next two years she signe4
affidavits of support for
250 refugees. . .
She married George

Kohn in 1967, and he, like
her first husband, was ac-
tive in the family's
plumbing business. Mrs.
Kohn was active in efforts
for pre-state and modern
Israel.
