Nazi Emblem Distribution
Probed by German Officials

BONN (JTA) — The
Frankfurt State Pro-
secutor is weighing ac-
tion against a German
mail order house which
ordered 16 cartons of im-
itation "Waffen SS" dag-
gers with Nazi emblems.
The company's action
could constitute an of-
fense against laws for-
bidding the distribution
of Nazi emblems, though
exemptions are permit-
ted "where it serves the
interests of art, science or
history."
The cartons, originating
in Madrid, were uncovered
by accident when customs
men were conducting ran-
dom checks on air freight

packages. Some diggers
were wrapped in simple
cardboard,, but others
were in smart "gift 'pac-'
kages."
The blades of the(
inch daggers contah_d
the inscriptions "In
Herzliche,r
Kameradschaft Himler."
(In Devoted Comradeship
With Himmler) or "Meine
Ehge Heisst Treue" (My
Honor is Called Loyalty).
The black leather handles
bear the emblem of the
Waffen SS and also a
Swastika and the "Reich-
sadler" (Reich Eagle)
A spokesman for the
mail order house says the
fake daggers were in-
tended ."for collectors."
