Jewish National Fund
has begun a "green offen-

country in the wake of
heavy rainfall this sea-

Heights - in the north, to
Shram-e-Sheikh in the
south.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (JTA)
Nearly 400 Christian
and Jewish scholars from
the United States and
Canada who met here this
month to discuss the

must be remembered,
studied and taught in
order to prevent any re-
petition.
The conference, called
"The Significance of the
Holocaust for Western
Civilization," was spon-
sored by Stanford Uni-
versity'.s Hoover Insti-
tute; the Universities of
Santa Clara and San Jose
and the Natiorial Confer-

that -Israel has bid to
purchase 250 F-16s, an

tion, on condition that Is-
raElAircraft Industries is
licensed to produce parts
of the plan on an increas-
ing scale so that the last
50 units would be almost
entirely built in Israel.
The reason is that Israel
would save as much as
20-30 percent of the $3 bill-
ion purchase price if the
F-16 infra-structure and
spare parts could be pro-
duced at home.
The sources said the
question of know-how is a
false issue because the
U.S. has offered Israel
co-production. rights on
much more sophisticated
systems if Israel agreed
to purchase additional
quantities of the McDon-
nell Douglas F-15 fighter
bomber. Israel has or-
dered 25 of the planes,
three of which were deli-
vered last year, but the
Israel Air Force prefers
to wait for the F-16s
which are an advanced
model.

Ehrenthal is also quoted
as saying that the chief
rabbinate for Slovakia had
been moved from Galanta
to Bratislava, with Rabbi
Isidor Katz remaining in
charge and that a number
of communities no longer
are able to form a minyan
for prayers and therefore
would be merged with
larger communities.
He asked for individual
hardship cases to be re-
ported and claimed that
Slovak Jews enjoyed full
religious freedom and
kashrut facilities.
