When Ford Motor Co.
advertised its wages as $5 •
per day, Mr. Karpel sold
his business to work for
the automobile manufac-
turer, helping to build the
power plant at River
Rouge. He counted among
his longtime, friends the
late Walter Reuther. Mr_
Karpel later was employed
by General Motors.
Ten years ago the
couple founded the
Blackstone synagogue.
Proceeds benefited - the
synagogue, and leftover
funds were donated to the
Jewish National Fund.
The couple will - be
joined at their anniver-
sary celebration- by their
children, Nettie Freilich,
Harold and Jack of
California:. and by their
nine grandchildren and
two-great-grandchildren.
