PAM JOYCE WRITES:
. . ."Even with blizzard
warnings in effect, the
Landing Disco on South-
field Rd. still brought in a
good portion of their
usual Wednesday night
crowd. It's possible the
people just wanted to get
away from it all, and the
Landing's decor, repre-
senting a UFO, would
definitely fit the mood.
You can relax in real air-
line seats, which sur-
roand the dance floor,
and look on to a fascinat-
ing wall mural of a land-
ing strip, or if you'd
rather stand at the bar,
Gary McKenna or Doctor
Wood (a self-proclaimed
title of doctor of mixology)

They might even throw in
a few dance routines.

is never a line at the
Landing since you are in-
vited to wait upstairs, in
what used to be the Kings
Arms, and have a drink
until.there is room in the
disco. The upstairs is also
open daily • for busi-
nessmen's luncheons,
and on Monday and
Tuesday nights when the
Landing is closed. The
average age groups fre-
quenting this disco are
between 20 and 30, with a
pretty even mix of both
sexes.
" 'Wednesday night at
Fanny's', in the Troy Hil-
ton, is a very common
phrase, as you can tell by
the large 'crowds at
swarm there. Lines at the
door are an everyday oc-
curence, and they usually
start up at about 9 p.m.
Not only is good music
part of the normal
routine, service is always
prompt and courteous, as
our waitress, Robin, pro-
ved. Rich Iceberg is man-
ager of Fanny's, which
draws a large local crowd
along with the guests of
the hotel. Ages range
from 25 to 40"."
