Israel Army Has Fuel Saving Plan

JERUSALEM — The
Israeli Army has intro-
duced a computerized
program that will con-
serve the use of fuel. The
new program is a form of
petrol rationing, whereby
a computer system con-
ducts automatic checks of
the fuel consumption of
vehicles.
At present 1,300 vehic-
les are being monitored
and fuel consumption is

down by a third. Eventu-
ally all military vehicles
will be programmed
through the computer.
The computer system
automatically issues
warnings and sum-
monses when more than
the. alloted fuel is used.
The new program,was in-
troduced by the IDF
Quartermaster's Corps to
bring about greater sav-

I Don't Want to Sell You A Car,
I Want To Help You Buy One,

You work hard for you • money.
So do I.

But I don't think that a' low price
alone is enough to get yoU to
spend your money at Jerry
Glassman Olds, or any other
car dealership.
1 believe people want to
buy their car from a
dealership they can put
their trust in. A dealership
that'll work as hard for their
money as they did. Making sure
things are right — before, during
and after the sale.
When you visit Glassman Olds,
we'll help you pick out a car that's
right for the kind of driving you do.
Then we'll quote you a fair price. A
price as low as any in town.

Maybe lower.
And, after the sale, you'll find
our smiles are just as wide,
our handshakes just as friendly
when you come in for a free
warranty check.

That's the way I run things at
Jerry Glassman 'Oldsmobile.

Congress OKs Egypt Food Aid

WASHINGTON (JTA)

apparently have given
the green light to the Car-
ter Administration to
transfer $190 million
from development prog-
rams in Egypt to be used
for the purchase of ag-
ricultural products to_
help feed the Egyptian
people.
The foreign operations
subcommittee of the
House Appropriations
Committee agreed last
week without dissent
after Assistant Secretary
of State for Middle East-
ern Affairs Alfred Ather-
ton conceded the transfer
was for political and
psychClogical reasons
rather than a means to
bolster Egypt's economy.
Rep. Clarence Long
(D-Md.), who questions
economic support of
Egypt when a quarter of
its gross national product
is going for arms, said
that he "very reluctantly
went along" with the
transfer because the ac-
tion did not represent-an
increase in aid but a read-
justment and that he did
not wish to see foreign
policy made on a crisis-
to-crisis basis with the
Carter Administration
just starting out.
Long insisted that the
matter be placed on the
public record and for that
reason, an aide said, the
hearing was arranged.
Previously, acquiescence
by the committee leader-
ship usually was sufficient
to approve such actions.
In-the Senate, the Ap-
propriation's Subcommit-
tee led by Sen. Daniel In-
ouye (D-Hawaii) has 15 -
days in which to object to
the action but no hearing
