WASHINGTON — Au-
thor Bernard Malamud,
holder of a Pulitzer Prize
and two National Book
Awards, has been named
winner of Bnai Brith's
Jewish Heritage Award
for 1976.
The 62 - year - old
novelist will receive the
$1,000 prize for "excel-
lence in Jewish litera-
ture" on Feb. 20 in New
York, at the annual meet-
ing of Bnai Brith's com-
mission on adult Jewish
education.

sponsor for the 1977 Con-
ference on Rearing Chil-
dren of Good Will to take
place 9 a.m. Thursday at
Mercy College. There is a
charge, and luncheon will
be served.
Theme for the confer-
ence is "Building Positive
Ties Between Urban and
Suburban Youth. The
conference also is spon-
sored by the Greater De-
troit Round Table of the
National Conference of
Christians and Jews.
