assocated with Israel
tourism since 1948 when
he was appointed direc-
tor of the Jerusalem
branch of the Tourist Of-
fice.
Born in Germany, Rabbi
Nathan is a graduate of the
Jewish Theological Semi-
nary in Breslau and im-
migrated to Israel in 1939.
He was private secretary
and Liaison officer to Yit-
zhak Ben-Zvi, then presi-
dent of the Jewish Na-
tional Council and later
persident-of Israel.
Rabbi Nathan served
with the Israel Defense
Forces during the siege of
Jerusalem in 1947-48. He
is the only Israeli
member of the Interna-
tional Academy of
Tourism.
