1st Arabian Buys
Commonwealth

First Arabian Corp.
purchased nearly all of
the 2.5 million new shares
issued by Bank of the
Commonwealth, and now
owns approximately 76
percent of the bank's
stock. Bank stockholders
purchased only 34,000
shares of the new issue.
The new stock issue
was sold to shore up the
bank's poor financial pos-
ition. First Arabian has
reportedly now invested
nearly $20 million in
Bank of the Common-
wealth.
