MR JIM'S Lotsa Pasta
doesn't mean a thing to
many . . . but to others
the name is a discovery
they don't forget . . . Lo-
cated on Gratiot and 101/2
Mile, it's at the former
site of another Italian
restaurant, San Marino
. . . only quite a bit better
. . . and much more at-
tractive . . . from the at-
mosphere, food and serv-
ice standpoints and all-
around home cooking en-
joyment.
It is a real Southern
Italian-style family-
operated•eatery . . seat-
ing 80 people in a very
clean place that takes
pride in ,practically ev-
erything being made
right on the spot. -
There's owners Jim
Cammarata and sister
Germaine Craprotta . .
Their mother Catherine
makes the excellent
canolli pastry and her
own recipe for braccioli
among other goodies . . .
Then there's Jim's wife,
Tomasina, their son Carl
and daughter Catherine
. . . Germaine's daughter
Catherine . . . and a
couple of nephews, Ron
Nelson and Frank Holtz.
Our waitress, Vivian
Huffine, isn't a member of
the family, but "one of us"
says Jim . . . A delicious
array of home-cooked
Southern Italy dishes
were brought to us by Viv-
ian . . . Pickled Sirloin of
Beef pieces marinated
with Lotsa Pasta's o wn
sauce, a large antipasto
plate, home-made chicken
soup that tasted like the
chicken was kept in it and
not passed through very
quickly . . . In the soup
were pastinas (tiny round
noodles).
Next dish had Lasagna
and Manicotti on it . . .
then another brought by
BLOOMFIELD.

6560 ORCHARD LAKE ROAD AT WEST MAPLE (15 Mile)
Vivian was of Breaded
Beef Siciliano and Bone-
less Breast of Chicken
Parmigiana . . . The
meal was topped off with
Lotsa Pasta's great
canolli, possibly the best
we've yet tasted.
The white, red and
green colors of the Italian
flag made Mr. Jim's Lotsa
Pasta stand out . . . The
building is on one of
Roseville's oldest restau-
rant locales, one time
being known as Airport
Grill, across Gratiot from
where today's Federal's
used to be an airport.
Seven months ago Jim
and Germaine took over
from the owners of San
Marino . . . and have
done absolute wonders
. . . The almost com-
pletely gutted interior in-
cludes all carpeting in-
stead of tile, clean walls,
kitchen with modern
equipment, etc. . . . Out-
side, more parking was
added.
Nothing comes out of the
kitchen without Jim seeing
it first . . . If it isn't right,
back the dish goes . . . 10
years ago, he spent four-
and-a-half years as man-
ager of Al Green's on Jef-
ferson . . . Today, he also
owns the Coach Lite Pan-
cake House just a few
doors away that has
boomeranged him as one
of Roseville's leading re-
staurateurs for the past
nine years.
Mr. Jim's Lotsa Pasta
doesn't stop at usual Ita-
lian specialties . . . it also
has round and square
pizza made its own un-
usual and very delicious
way . . . plus Jim's favo-
rite, all kinds of pasta
dishes with seven dif-
ferent types of sauce.
This is the type of res-
taurant to which every-
body likes to go . . . a fam-
ily operated one from
kitchen to cash register
. . . No better recom-
mendation can be given
any eating spot than the
fact that the cooking is
like one would make for
their own family.
ONLY THING holding
up things for start of Al
Balooly's lavish seven-
day-a-week smorgasbord
setup at his Topinka's
Country House on Seven
Mile and Telegraph are
six, huge refrigerated
buffet tables yet to come
. . . Al's ultra-fabulous
arrangement should be
ready next week.
JIM JEWHURST, fine
piano stylist, is the new
feature at Bloomfield
Canopy on Orchard Lake
Rd.. . . Jim plays 7 to 12,
Tuesday through Satur-
day.
