# THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Shapiro Urges Zionist Talks NEW YORK (JTA) — Dr. Judah J. Shapiro, president of •the Labor Zionist Alliance, said last Sunday that there is a need for Labor Zionist groups in America to press for the restoration of discussions in the U.S. of the ideological defi- nitions of Zionism and its program. Addressing the organi- zation's National Execu- tive Committee, Shapiro said that "Many Ameri- can Jews were reluctant to criticize Israel." But, said, the Labor Zionist ovement cannot act in the U.S. on either the teachings of the past or on directives of the lead- ership in the U.S. and Is- rael, but must come for- ward with its own posi- tions emerging from its unique American experi- ence. Only then could it "en- gage in a fruitful dialogue with Israel," he said. Friday, January 21, 1977 11 Delta o Florida. . 41ke Luncheon Honors Prof., Dropsie U. Body and Soul Rabbi Israel Lipkin Salanter preached a ser- mon on the Sabbath of Repentance in which he expressed this thought: "It is usual that a man expresses concern for his own body and for the soul of his neighbor. He usu- ally doesn't worry about his own soul nor about the ody of his neighbor. The everse should be the case if man is to repent and earn his share in the world to come. "Man should disregard his own body and pay at- tention to his soul. He also need not be con- cerned about the soul of his neighbor but he should make certain to provide for his bodily needs."
