THE THOUGHT by many that Indian foods are "too hot" is a miscon ception that deserves needed clarification. Our late.st visit to Taj Mahal restaurant on 12 Mile, east of Greenfield in Berkley, again bore out this important fact. Quite obviously, those who would make this "too hot" statement have - either had a bad experi- ence at an Indian re- staurant or only talk from hearsay. True, some Indian foods are made with curry powder, but even this can be as mild or as hot as you desire. The Taj Mahal menu, one of the finest selections of its kind, is starred. only among its curry dishes as to which are mild, fairly hot(4) or hot(3) ... Also in- cluded among these items are three hot and sour dis- hes. There were four of us to formulate good opinions about Taj Mahal, which retains its potent ranking as one of our area's finest Indian restaurants .. . Scott, Pam, wife- Frieda and ourselves. Since. Taj Mahal now serves beer and wine, dinner was started by a. bottle of Pouilly Fuisse THE GREAT VACATION FOR BUSY EXECUTIVES The luxurious Marriott Inn has planned an escape vocation for you. Much natural food and only fresh veget- ables are used ... In fact, many health faddists, veg- etarians and weight con- trollers make Taj Mahal a regular stomping ground for dining out. Elias Miah did the kitchen chores, while his brother Faruk Miah and Sazzadur Rahman took over the serving duties in extremely courteous fashion. Taj Mahal restaurant has only been open since June, 1975, but its discov- ery by many has been a most satisfying one. AL BALOOLEY, bossman at Topinka's Country House on W.
