JNF Dedicates Galilee Forest • • to British Writer George Eliot JERUSALEM (JTA) — A grove of 1,000 trees has been dedicated by the Jewish National Fund in memory of the British Victorian novelist George Eliot (nom de plume of Marian Evans-Cross 1819-1880). The grove is in the In- ternational Women's Forest in the Galilee. In her book, "Daniel Deronda," George Eliot spoke out in favor of what is in effect the thesis of political Zionism, affirm- ing the right of the Jewish people to return to their ancient homeland.
