Kotto is proud of his link with Judaism and hails the rescue mission at Entebbe as the greatest military achievement of our time. The picture will be pre- sented on NBC television Sunday. The first Entebbe film, "Victory at Entebbe," aired by ABC last month, was not quite satisfac- tory. Though brilliant cameo portrayals were supplied by an array of stars, the timing was all- too-pedestrian and not enough was shown of the actual flight over northeast Africa, the strategy employed by -the Israeli commandos and the attack on the Uganda airport. The picture, pro- duced by David Wolper, was limited by a short schedule prior to the re- leasing date which also necessitated the video- taping instead of filming with 35 mm. cameras which normally reflects a much richer texture on the screen. (In Rome, it was re- ported that security has been bolstered in four movie theaters after three of them were the target of arsonists pro. testing the showing of the film, "Victory at En- tebbe." A Palestinian group claimed responsi- bility fdr- attempting to force a boycott of "this film produced by United States Zionism." Police reported the attacks caused minor damage and no injuries.) In Israel, Menahem Golan is co-producing a third Entebbe film to be released to theaters. The film, "Entebbe: Opera- tion Thunderbolt," has no stars. "The Entebbe opera- tion is not a Hollywood story," Golan said. "Hav- ing stars in it destroys the illusion." Golan did ask Uganda's Idi Amin to play himself in the film. "The Memory of Jus- tice," Marcel Ophuls' monumental, five-hour motion picture, pre- miered at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater of the Hollywood Academy as a special benefit for the Committee for Public-- Justice. Lillian Hellman was host and members of the committee included Paul Newman, Leonard Berns- tein and Neil Simon. The picture explores "the un- bewaeltigte V er- gangeheit" (the uncon- quered past) of the Ger- mans dealing with crimes against humanity commit- ted in peace and war and culminating in the first trials at Nuremberg of 1945 and 1946. "Lupo goes to New York," the Israeli pic- ture starring. Yehuda Barkan which has its U.S. premiere at the Lincoln Village Theater in Chicago in mid-February, is the first Hebrew screen comedy to tie up the set- ting of the Holy Land with the Manhattan skyline. Based -on a scenario by Shimon Israeli and Boaz Davidson, with the latter also directing, "Lupo Goes to New York" takes the whimsical" character of Lupo Abramovitch, a peddler of old furniture in the Jaffa flea market, to the sights of New York to visit his daughter and son-in-law who happened to be on the staff of the Israeli Consulate. ill LII1 I 1.14; FEATURING GREEK FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT OPEN 71DAYS . . .
