Israel Business Opportunities
Listed in Aliya Center Digest

NEW YORK — Inves-
tors and potential emig-
rants seeking informa-
tion about business op-
portunities in Israel will
find a publication issued
by the Israel Aliya Center
of interest.
The publication, "Is-
rael Business Oppor-
tunities Digest," was
compiled by the Tour
Ve'Aleh office of the Is-
rael Aliya Center and fea-
tures current data on ev-
erything from beauty
parlors for sale in Ramat
Gan to investment pos-
sibilities in a luxury hotel
in Natanya.
Jacob Polak, Tour
Ve'Aleh director, said
that the digest will be
published simi-annually
and the availability of
specific listings at any
point in time may be
questionable.
The 32-page digest in-
cludes opportunities in
practically all areas of en-
deavor and are cataloged
by type of business. Indi-
vidual listings include
such information as loca-
tion, annual sales, re-
quired investment, poten-
tial earnings and assets.
Other features of the
booklet include a glossary
of Israeli business terms,
a geographical index and
information on loan op-
portunities and new im-
migrant subsidies.

Technion Computer Assists
in Critical Biblical Analysis

HAIFA— Prof. Yehuda
T. Radday who heads the
Dept. of General Studies
at the Technion-Jsrael
Institute of Technology
where he teaches Bible,
has recently completed
extensive research into
the homogeneity of bibli-
cal texts, with the aid of a
computer.
In close collaboration
with Haim Shore, a
Technion grcluate and a
statistician at Tel Aviv
University, Professor
Radday produced a pilot
study taking the Book of
Judges for illustration.
Basing their research
on 25 independent
criteria of language be-
havior, and using the
statistical method known
as discriminant analysis,
'Radday and Shore di-
vided the Book of Judges
arbitrarily into 40 sam-
ples of 250 words each.
The computer was prog-
rammed to allocate each
sample to the book's main
body, to the Samson cycle
or to the two "horror
stories" at the end of
Judges.
In Professor Radday's
opinion, the computation
tends to corroborate what
some scholars had long
suspected; namely that
the Book of Judges had
originally been written
