rid. Slomovitz concluded
by saying that "Israel is
indestructible, if we stick
with Israel."
Michael Michlin, He-
brew educator, was hon-
ored with an inscription
in the Golden Book, by his
children and grandchil-
dren, on the occasion of
his 85th birthday. Michlin
was financial secretary of
JNF for 18 years. He has
devoted six decades to
Jewish National Fund
and is still serving on, its
board of directors.
Michlin was a teacher
and principal in the De-
troit United Hebrew
Schools for 50 years,
starting in 1919, when the
UHS was established.
Percy Kaplan, executive
director of the Detroit and
Michigan Region, re-
ported that Detroiters
have planted more than
100,000 trees in Israel dur-
ing the past year.
