JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Some 1,500 high school
students in 18 schools in
the Matte Yehuda region
near Jerusalem will begin
an educational project
on "Jews in the United
States."
The project, sponsored
by the International Cul-
tural Center for Youth in
Jerusalem, in conjunc-
tion with the Ministry of
Education and Culture
and the regional council,
is the first of its kind in
Israel.
Its purpose is to impart
to students a better
knowledge of American
Jews, their history and
their cultural back-
ground.
A special dedication
and anniversary celebra-
tion will be held at 8 p.m.
Sunday at the Center,
and the public is invited.
The prices of basic
commodities, public
transportation and fuel
were not affected by the
latest devaluation which
is intended to spur ex-
ports. Those prices rose
by an average of 20 per-
cent earlier in the month
when the government
sharply reduced its price
support subsidies.
