pendence for many years,
will address the Allied
Jewish Campaign-Israel
Emergency Fund Wo-

at the home of Mrs. David

At first reports of Nazi
persecution, Rev. Grauel
resigned as pastor of a sea
parish on the coast of
Maine and joined the
American Christian
Palestine Committee.
Fascinated with
Hagana, he became a
member of the Exodus
crew. Rev. Grauel soon
appeared in the un-
derground in Europe.
Rev. Grauel has re-
ceived many awards in-
cluding the Fighter for
Israel Medal, with two
combat ribbons; the Vic-
tory Medal and the Medal
of Jerusalem as a founder
of the state.

Campaign Starts

A coordinated mail and
telephone solicitation
campaign designed to in-
crease the number of
pledges for the Allied
Jewish Campaign-Israel
Emergency Fund, is now
underway.
"Operation Recovery,"
chaired by AJC-IEF co-
chairman Phillip
Stollman, is designed to
bring to public attention
a variety of essential
services to those in need,
both here and in Israel.
Former AJC-IEF con-
tributors and potential
givers have been con-
tacted by mail and asked
to confirm their commit-
ment to the Jewish com-
munity. The mailings will
be followed by telephone
calls next week, Stollman
said. More than 150 vol-
unteers will seek Cam-
paign gifts by phone dur-
ing the telethon.

Merle Harris, Jay Kogan
and I. William Sherr.
