New owners are May and Stephen Tom Hon, a couple of nice people who folks will enjoy dining with . . . When the owner himself works in the kitchen, you know the food will be good, and it is cooked by Stephen . . . Prices have also been lowered to where they should be. Neither May nor Stephen are newcomers to the northwest, having worked in an area Chinese restaurant prior to buying China City . . . Both went from Hong Long to Trinidad and to Detroit nine years ago. We had dinner there by candlelight recently . . . power had gone out in the Telegraph-12 Mile locale . . . Even the cooking was by candlelight . . . But the Hong Kong delicacies were very tasty (abalone, soup, - steak, breaded fish. etc.) . . . Lights came back on about a half-hour later and the romantic atmos- phere turned into a better-to- see- you with - thing. China City's regular fare is much better than before . .. also the exotic dishes such as we had . . . plus crispy chicken, lemon chicken, Peking duck, fried squab, etc ... And the prices are very much within reason now . . Most people don't mind paying a little extra for good food, but they don't like mediocre cook- ing at rip-off prices. Neither is the case at China City anymore . . . Nice people like May and Stephen Tom Hon don't know about such prac- tices . . . They're real down-to-earth people who want only to earn a living and stay in business fora long time . . . With this attitude, they can't miss.
