Now that we all have
heard from the Rabbi . . .
"that in today's sophisti-
cated, highly mechanized
food industry, many in-
gredients are put into a
product that are not
listed among the ingre-
dients on the label" may I
be permitted to comment
briefly.
Since the Rabbi made
such a sweeping state-
ment, it should be easy for
him to enumerate a few
instances in which ingre-
dients are added to a food
item without appearing
on the label. I, for one,
would be particularly in-
terested in the hidden in-
gredients of
trefe
cornstarch.
We live in a time, in
which people want to
know what is going on,
and it is incumbent upon
the Rabbi to furnish the
public with the facts as
they apply to rabbinical
supervision.

Hospital Brit Mila

Editor, The Jewish News:
After the recent birth
of our son, I was both
amazed and disturbed by
the number of young
Jewish mothers who are
choosing to have their
baby's circumcision per-
formed in the hospital by
a doctor.
They felt they were
providing the best and
safest care for their child.
These baby boys are cir-
cumcized mostly on the
third or fourth day and
sent home the following
day with their mothers. I
fet so sorry for these mis-
led young mothers.

The many items that
carry the OU sign lately
give rise to a form of skep-
ticism that may do ir-
reparable harm to the
legitimate concern for
making kosher food
available to those who
want to purchase it.

assume, a cost factor in-
