YaatirV;iMplicated
by Flushed Papers

TEL AVIV (JTA)
Asher Yadlin may have
flushed away his career
when he disposed of cer-
tain documents in the
toilet of his Tel Aviv
home. The papers were
retrieved by a plumber
called to clear a blocked
drain pipe.
Yadlin, who had been
nominated for the office
of Governor of the Bank
of Israel, was detained by
police the next day for
questioning and was sub-
' iuently arraigned on
urges of accepting
bribes and other illegal
activities. The Cabinet
has since rescinded his
appointment.
Meanwhile, two more
persons were arrested
Sunday in the Yadlin
scandal. Sara Hary, sister
of Yadlin, the former
chairman of the Histad-
rut sick fund, Kupat
Holim, was taken into
custody after police ques-
tioned her in connection
with bribes allegedly re-
ceived by her brother:
Police also detained a
prominent Israeli ar-
chitect, Abba Elchanani,
on suspicion that he
bribed Yadlin to obtain
lucrative contracts from
Kupat Holim.
