THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS OBITUARIES Reuben Cottler, Co-Owner of Dexter-Davison Market Reuben Cottler, who was associated with his father, Norman Cottler, in the operation of the Dexter-Davison Market, died Monday at age 55 after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Heb- rew Memorial Chapel. Mr. Cottler shared many of his father's interests in the Labor Zionist move- ment, in Histadrut and the Faband. A native Detroi- ter, Mr. Cottler was a vete- ran of World War II. He resided at 22920 Bellwood Dr. N., Southfield. He is survived by his wife, Madelyn; two sons, REUBEN COITLER Steven and David; his father, Norman; and a sister, Mrs. Bernard (Syl- via) Cohen. Local Attorney David S. Levi, Active in Cong. Shaarey Zedek DaYid Shloma Levi, a Detroit attorney, died Oct. 24 at age 72. A member of Cong. Shaarey Zedek and Men's ORT, Mr. Levi was known for his religious devo- tions. He was seldom ab- sent from a Sabbath ser- vice at Shaarey Zedek and was a strong adhe- rent and supporter of traditional causes. He re- sided at 10075 Lincoln, Huntington Woods. He is survived by his wife, Arlyle Ruth; two sons, Joel and Paul; four Louis J. Cohen, 65 Louis J. Cohen, retired regional sales manager of the Frank Spice Co., died Oct. 27 at age 65.. Born in Russia, Mr. Cohen retired five years ago. He was an attorney in Detroit and Flint from 1931 to 1945. He was graduated from the De- troit College of Law in 1930. Mr. Cohen was presi- dent of his AZA chapter of Bnai Brith in 1928 and 1929, a charter member and former secretary of Tikvah Lodge of Bnai Brith, a member of Flint Elks Club, Perfection Lodge of the Masons, Crescent Shrine Club and associate chairman of the food division of the Allied Jewish Campaign in the late 1950s. He resided at 16211 W. Nine-Mile, South- field. He leaves his wife, Betty; two sons, Perry and Ronald of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. c (Diane) Grainer of s Church, Va.; his mother, Mrs. Harry (Becky) Cohen; a brother, Abe; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Bertha) Weinstein and Mrs. Arthur (Sylvia) Feldman of Mt. Sam Leib, 72 Sam Leib, a musician and agent for the Inter- nal Revenue Service for 25 years, died Oct. 25 at age 72 in Hallandale, Fla. Born in Russia, Mr. Leib lived most of his life in Detroit, prior to retir- ing to Florida five years ago. The son of a Toledo cantor, Mr. Leib was well known in music circles in Detroit and was a member of the Detroit Federation of Musicians. He was a member of Tem- ple Israel. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; a son, Dr. Alden; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Zelvin of Skokie, Ill.; a brother, Max; a sister, Mrs. Sidney (Betty) Rayman of Los Angeles, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Inter- ment Detroit. Clara Sherizen, 73 Clara Sherizen, an ac- tive member of Jewish communal organizations, died Oct. 22 at age 73. Born in Austria, Mrs. Sherizen lived 55 years in Detroit. She was the founder and a past presi- dent of the Northgate Chapter of Pioneer Wo- men, a life member of Women of Jewish Na- tional Fund and a member of the Odessa Progressive Society. She is survived by a son, Paul; a daughter, Mrs. William (Elaine) Kadashaw; two brothers, Frank Goodman and Isaac Goodman; a sister, Mrs. Morris (Ida) Love; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
