Stand-By Helpers
for Israel Sought
NEW YORK — An ex-
change of skilled work-
men between Israel, and
the United States to
share advanced technol-
ogy experience has been
added to the program
sponsored by American
and Canadian Trade
Skills for Israel.
Created two years ago
to establish a pool of vol-
unteers who would fill
civilian jobs in Israel if an
emergency draft should
again deplete the fac-
tories of that nation,
ACTS has now emerged a
small but effective pool of
workers through several_
region al offices.
This "just in case" pot,
of civilian volunteers was
conceived after the 1973
attack on Israel. At that
time, 14,000 Americans
offered to take civilian
jobs in industry but time
did not permit classifica-
tion and screening.
