The Israeli spokesman said that America's military assistance to Is- rael was still 30 percent less than what hiS gov- ernment had requested and that Washington had asked Israel to reduce its dependency on American military assistance. Sha'ar further said that the military balance of power in the Middle East is now in Israel's favor because Wash- ington maintains a satis- factory relationship with Egypt which would pre- clude Egyptian support of any Syrian instigated •war against Israel.
