Danny Raskin's

LISTENING

POST

MAIL DEPT. . . . from
P . S "About two el-
derly people, killed cros-
sing at the Shopping
Center on 10 Mile and
Greenfield, who needs
that light at Northgate
and Greenfield? It should
be at the Shopping Center
crossing besides at 10
Mile.. I walk from Lincoln
Tower Bldg. to get to the
Detroit Bank and Trust
and then to the American
Savings Bank. I am 79
years old and when I get
as far as the Detroit
Bank, I am exhausted
and perspiring from the
exertion of the walk so
far. Then I must walk to
Ten, crass back to the
American Savings. If it
rains, one cannot walk
down Greenfield because
THERE ARE NO
SIDEWALKS, just mud.
This means walk the
street, with lots of traffic,
until I can get to the
Northgate light. If it is
dry, the way is full of
small stones. I nearly
tripped when my foot got
into a hole and another
time, I nearly fell when
my heel turned on the
small stones. I enjoy
reading all your articles.
This one is especially
serious."
THIS SUNDAY IS Lox
Box Day . . . delivery

kin now, 399-0618 for your

IF THE WEATHER
STAYS okay in Detroit,
Bella and Israel Taines
won't feel too bad . . .
They've been away from
here 15 years, living in
Florida, and can take
anything but the cold or
snow . . . According to
WWJ weathercaster,
Sonny Eliot, neither are
close yet . . . although
Florida may be in for
some cold weather! (Bella
and Israel are the pa-
rents of Mickey, Gerry
and Hal Taines.)
CHILDREN'S DEPT
. . . Little Murray Sot-
kin, five-year-old son of Al
and Lottie Sotkin, has
always been afraid of
dogs . . . Last week, after
a struggle to get him to
pass a large dog standing
at the corner, Lottie
scolded him for his un-
necessary fear . . . and
Murray replied, "Well,
you'd be afraid of dogs,
too, if you were as low
down as I am."
WEEK FROM SATUR-
DAY, Oct. 30, is date of
Mr. and Mrs. Group, City
of Hope, dance of yes-
teryears at Cong. Bnai

IN SUNDAY SCHOOL
class she taught before
returning here from Los
Angeles recently, Edith
Rosen tells of the children
just finishing studying
the Ten Commandments
. . . On a written test, she
asked what is meant by
the word "adultery" . . .
One little girl wrote,
"Adultery is the sin of
saying you're older than
you really are."
SCENE IN A NORTH-
LAND store ... After the
salesgirl had patiently
assembled a collection of
sweaters for the cute
teen-ager, the young girl
finally tried one on and
said, "This sweater fits
perfectly. I'll take the
next size smaller."

Salon in the Honeywell
Bldg. on Nine Mile, has
nassed his guest artist

asked, "Now tell me,

make a hole-in-one?"
