Institute Formed
for Entebbe Hero

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
An institute to com-
memorate Yonatan
Netanyahu, the com-
mander of the Entebbe
rescue unit who was kil-
led in the operation, has
been formed to promote
Zionism and Israel's im-
portance for the defense
of the free world.
"The Yonatan Insti-
tute" was formed by
public committee, which
includes President Ep-
hraim Katzir and is
chaired by Golda Meir.
Other members include
senior ministers, Sup-
reme Court judges, the
chief rabbis and heads of
all the universities.
The institute will build
"Yonatan's House,"
which will contain a
museum with photo-
graphs and documents on
the history of heroism in
Israel.

Romanians Cancel
Israel Dance Tour

TEL AVIV (JTA) — A
Romanian folk dance
troupe has suddenly can-
celled an Israeli tour
which was supposed to
open here, to be followed
by an official gala pre-
mier last week. The tele-
gram announcing the
cancellation gave no
reason for it and
suggested no alternative
date.
Attempts to ascertain
the motive have yielded
\no information and Is-
raeli circles now believe
that the Romanians
acted under political
pressure, either from the
Arab states or the Soviet
bloc.
The Romanian Ambas-
sador, Jan Kovatz, whose
efforts to improve
Israeli-Romanian rela-
tions have been endorsed
in Bucharest and in Mos-
cow, said that the cancel-
lation was due to techni-
cal reasons. But he did
not amplify what these
might have been.
A total of 20 perfor-
mances had been
scheduled throughout Is-
rael.

UNITED NATIONS
(JTA) — Secretary Gen-
eral Kurt Waldheim has
recommended another
one-year extension of the
UN Emergency Force
(UNEF) in Sinai when it
present mandate expirE_
Sunday.
In a report to the Sec=
urity Council, covering
the 12-month period since
the mandate was last ex-
tended by the council, he
noted that the presence of
UNEF was a major factor
in maintaining the cease-
fire established after the
Yom Kippur War and
reaffirmed by the
Israeli-Egyptian interim
Sinai pact in September
1975.
Waldheim noted that if
there is no progress in ef-
forts to achieve a settle-
ment in the Middle East,
the situation would "in-
evitably remain unstable
in spite of peacekeeping
and other arrange-
ments."
