Ford Is Greeted
in Borough Park

NEW YORK (JTA) —
More than 25,000 people
enthusiastically greeted
President Ford as his
motorcade went through
the streets of Borough
Park, a heavily populated
Orthodox Jewish area in
Brooklyn.
He made brief speeches
outlining his programs
for more jobs, health care,
--td educational assis-
ice.
According to George
Klein, a national coor-
dinator for the Ford cam-
paign, the "President's
warm reception can be at-
tributed to his articula-
tion and concern not only-
for Israel and Soviet
Jewry, but for local needs,
such as neighborhood
preservation crime pro-
tection, better
s housing,
and aid to private
schools."
The President met ear-
lier with 150 Jewish
city-wide community
leaders.

Potential Emigres
Register at 'Expo'

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
A project called "Aliya
Expo" which aims to find
potential olim among
Jewish tourists visiting
Israel was held here last
week.
Several dozen Israelis,
themselves former im-
migrants, met with a few
hundred tourists to dis-
cuss aliya and to provide
graphic and oral informa-
tion about its various as-
pects:-
The project was or-
ganized by Tour VeAliya, a
branch of the World
Zionist Organization.
Kalman Grossman, its di-
rector, said that thousands
of names and addresses
were registered during
the two-say "Aliya Expo."
He said the names
would be sent to aliya
emissaries abroad who
are supposed to follow up
by making further con-
tacts with potential im-
migrants.

Jimmy Carter says: "Without
endangering the defense of our
nation or commitments to our
allies, we can reduce present
defense expenditures by about
$5 to $7 billion annually." We
ponder the impact of such a cut
on our military capabilities in
the Mideast...and we worry.
(May, 1976)

Jimmy Carter says": "I think
ultimately a final solution may
very well entail withdrawal of
Israel basically to the 1967
boundaries." We reflecfon that
statement...and we worry.
(June, 1976)
Jimmy Carter says: "The
legitimate interest of
Palestinians is probably the
most important aspect of the
Middle East settlement. They
ought to be recognized." We
reflect on that statement...and
we worry. (July, 1976)

Jimmy Carter says: "The
Geneva Conference might
possibly be reconvened in the
future...the major possibility is
participation by the
Palestinians, which Israel
objects to very strongly. I think
the Arab countries ought to
make that a requisite. Also, the
Soviet Union ought to be a
party to the conference." We
reflect on that statement..-.and
we worry. (July, 1976)

We are proud to be among the People for Ford

"I have known President Ford for over 25 years. He has been a staunch and true friend
of Israel and of the Jewish Community. Above all, he has always exhibited the highest
standards of personal integrity and candor. We have learned we can depend on him and
I believe he merits our strong support now."
