With fall weather,
stews are a welcome addi-
tion to our menus. They
are especially easy for a
working homemaker to
prepare, since she can
prepare them the night
before and reheat for
serving. the flavor actu-
ally improves upon re-
heating!

2 Ibs, chuck meat,
cut into 1-inch cubes
flour
1 tsp. oil
1 stalk celery, cut into slices
1 /2 green pepper, cut in thin strips
1 medium onion, sliced
1 /2 lb. fresh mushrooms, whole
2/3 cup red wine
(Burgundy is good)
1 1/2 cups water
garlic powder
salt
pepper
Put flour into a paper bag.
Shake meat cubes in it until they
are covered with flour. Brown
meat and vegetables in oil in a
teflon frying pan. Add wine, wa'-
ter, garlic powder, salt and pep-
per. Bake at 350 degrees or until
tender.
