another year to serve,
speculation is already
ripe with respect to his
successor. Among those
considered for the post
are Reserve Gens. !Arik .
Sharon, Israel Tal and
Ezer Weizmann.
Gur said he believes
that the young active
generals can more than
hold their own with the-,
so-called "old-timers.''
Meanwhile, more and
more notice is being
taken of some youthful

achieved the status of na-
tional heroes.
A- case in point is that of
Brig. General Avigdor
Bengal, 40 years old, who
commanded a tank force
in the Yom Kippur War.
Another youthful con-
tender is Col. Yair Zamir
who is 28 years old.

CINCINNATI (JTA) —
On-the-job training op-
portunities for rabbinical
students at the Hebrew
Union College-Jewish In-
stitute of Religion, the
Reform seminary, will be
expanded through a
$50,000 grant from the
Lilly Endowment of In-
dianapolis.
The grant will help
fund a two-year pilot
program in practice-
based education in minis-
try functions for such
students, according to Dr.
Alfred Gottschalk, semi-
nary president.
Students may choose to
work in the areas of mari-
tal and family counseling;
campus, hospital and
c
- haplaincies;
prison
counseling troubled chil-
dren, the aged and the
handicapped; synagogue
administration; and voc-
ational guidance.
