MARVIN CHECK
MARVIN ROSEN
s
Inc., acknowledged that
Detroit has many severe
problems, but also
pointed to the positive
side of the balance sheet:
Detroit ranks first
in most economic compari-
sons: hourly wages, family
income, per capita income,
home ownership (77 per-
cent of Detroit families
own their own homes)." -
Fisher also pointed to
the $5 billion worth of
new construe
tion under way or com-
pleted within the last five
years in Detroit, includ-
ing 'the Detroit Medical
Center, the Detroit Insti-
tute of Arts, the Detroit
College of Arts and Crafts
and the Detroit Science
Center.
He outlined the be-
nefits of the new Renais-
sance Center and said it
was a major commit-
ment of the 51 companies
that have joined in the ef-
fort to build it, and wrote
of the steps being taken
by city leaders to combat
Detroit's urban problems.
