distinguished leader in

Jewish relations, at a
luncheon at the
Shoreham Hotel in
Washington, Oct. 14.
Rev. Flannery, who has
served for the past 10
years as executive sec-
retary of the Secretariat
for Catholic-Jewish Rela-
tions of the National Con-
ference of Catholic
Bishops, will retire from
that post Oct. -31. He will
return to his original dio-
cese in Providence, R.I.,
to assume the position of
director of the Office of
