Caricatures of Wearing Skullcap Abroad

RAMAT GAN — If the
Arabs can wear their
traditional keffiyah head
dress proudly when
travelling abroad why
can't the Jew do the same
with the kipa (skullcap)?

Guests and staff, who
were Jewish and who had

Altman and introducing
themselves as Jews.
Altman recalled that
"when I was in London,
after the Entebbe opera-
tion, it was great to walk
around with a kipa. I was
walking in Hyde Park one
day and a taxi driver
stopped, put his head out
the window of his cab and
called in Hebrew, "Kol

ing")."
On a bus in Scotland,
Altman recalled, his kipa
led to a friendly conversa-
tion with several passen-
gers, one of whom said,
"It's a great honor and
pleasure to have you
among us." In a hotel in
