Celebi, a former Istanbul radio news director, was interviewed on the Israeli radio during a tour of its studio's. He stressed that his visit to Israel — the first in a long time by a Tur- kish political figure — was private. But he con- ceded that it did have cer- tain political significance. Turkey, a Moslem coun- try, has been neutral in the Arab-Israeli conflict. But Ankara has kept a low profile with respect to its relations with Israel.
