`Mary Hartman' Protest Hit

Editor, The Jewish News:
Recently, the ever-
diligent-Anti-Defamation
League of the Bnai Brith
found a new object for
their wrath. The popular
television show "Mary
Hartman, Mary Hart-
man" portrayed one of
their characters, Loretta
Haggers, being inter-
viewed on television.
One of Loretta's lines
while on this fictional in-
terview program, was
something like, "The
Jews are so nice, consider-
ing that they're the
people that killed our
Lord." The ADL im-
mediately swamped the
show with protests, and
in the end, Loretta was
given some lines on the
next show, something to
the effect that some of her
best friends were Jews,
and how nice they really
were.
Doesn't the Anti-
Defamation League
realize that the whole
