JDC Aids Romanian Jewish Aged

BUCHAREST — In an

Committee,

invalids at a time were
taken for a two-week vac-

by one or more of the
JDC-supported welfare,
health and cultural and
religious programs. The
JDC receives the bulk of
its funds from the United
Jewish Appeal.
For the past several
years the Romanian Fed-
eration and the JDC have
conducted a home care
service and a meals-on-
wheels program for these
elderly shut-ins in
Bucharest and 16 other
cities throughout
Romania. Virtually all of
them are alone in the
world. Their average age
is 75.
