Our applicants stand out in a crowd NY Senate Candidate Asks Continued Support for Israel NEW YORK (JTA) — Abraham Hirschfeld, a former Israeli and for the past 25 years a New York businessman, who is now seeking the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. Senate, called on the U.S. government to fulfill its obligation to furnish Israel with military and economic aid so that the Jewish state can defend itself and preserve its existence and identity. In a position paper ti- tled, "Israel — America's Ally in the Middle East," he said that for the past views to the local and foreign press during the course of which he pre- sented a number of criti- cisms of Israel's foreign policy. COOK-FARR FORD Anna Himeloch Anna Himelhoch, a member of Flint Jewish communal organizations, died Aug. 24 at age 77. Born in Latvia, Mrs. Himelhoch lived 50 years in Flint. She was a member of Cong. Beth Is- rael and its sisterhood. She also was a member of Hadassah. She is survived by a son, Ted; a daughter, Mrs. Leon Backhaut of Swartz Creek; a sister, Mrs. Fanny Rosenberg of Mil- waukee, Wis.; and five grandchildren.
