Field, a De- troit poet whose works have had the distinction of being printed in Heb- rew translations in Is- rael, had another high honor accorded him with the presentation of a translation into Hebrew of his poem, "All Honor to Israel's Defense Forces," which was published in The- Detroit Jewish News July 23. Abraham Regelson, who had translated his earlier works for Hebrew texts printed in Israel, was so moved with Field's poem upon receiving the July 23 Jewish News at his home in Israel, that the eminent Hebrew poet acknowledged it with a Hebrew translation. In his poetic tribute - to Zahal, the Israel defense forces, Field had writ- ten in part: 0' loud; A sick world cowered and bowed. Israel refused to wear the shroud. Glazer, 58, has been writing songs for 25 years and has already recorded 15 albums. He performs publicly, generally billed as "Labor's Troubadour". Barely educated in music, he got into singing and composing as a result of his years in a synagogue choir while growing up in Manhattan. His many years in the labor movement are re- sponsible for the protest nature of most of his songs. However, Glazer has also been inspired by major news events, re- sulting in such songs as "The Ballad of Bobby Fisher - and "Ping Pong DiplomaCy".
