Danny Raskin's

LISTENING

POST

GIRL WHO WAS wait-
ress at the recent execu-
tive board meeting of De-
troit Businessmen's
Group, City of Hope, just
listened as the men plan-
ned their annual dinner-
dance for Nov. 14 at
Raleigh House . . . Anne
Conner went about her
business quietly while
they talked of someone in
the group, Nat Rechter,
speaking from the heart
of an experience close to
him and of his visit to the
City of Hope National Re-
search Medical Center in
Duarte, Calif. . . . None
of the members knew it,
but both Ford Hospital
and Providence Hospital
had given Anne six
months to live . . . When
she came back from
spending almost all her
money on a trip around
the world, Anne took 127
cobalt treatments for
cancer and has never
been sick since . . . That
was 19 years ago! . . .
(The cobalt treatment
was discovered by the City
of Hope.)
AFTER 26 YEARS of
playing'golf, Gary Wexler
has his dream come true
. . . First hole-in-one
came at Shenandoah
Country Club while on
the greens with wife He-
len.
"DOWN MEMORY

many years of wonderful
work as Infants Service
Group writer, director
and producer of_its an-
nual shows . . . Also for
her very fine work as a
stalwart in the magnifi-
cent charitable en-
deavors of ISG . . . A
great era comes to an end
when Infants Service
-Group has a luncheon in-
stead, this year, Nov. 1, at
the Hyatt Regency in
Dearborn . . . Eleanor is
married to a very proud
David Riseman.
AL DUBIN is already
-taking orders for cleaning

Hords, 352-0373, or

WEST. BLOOMFIELD
Lake Estates Committee
Chairman Arlene Kings-
ton and husband Billy,
sent out engraved beach
balls to invite the resi-
dents to dine and dance
on the community beach
. . . Arlene reports the
festivities: "Becky
Emmer helped husband
Howard mix 1,8 gallons of
his famous brew of rum
vodka and fruit. Barry
and Gail Herschman
fighting over the last
spare rib. President Dan
Pevos and wife Sue
smooching near the bon-
fire built in the sand.

Donna and Ron Rodgers
looked cute in their West,
ern style cowboy hats —
minus the horse. Carol
and Fred Spier did their
own version of the hustle.
Linda Roth looked a little
lonely • when husband
Mike's beeper went off
and he had to leave to de-
liver a baby — it was a
boy!"
PEOPLE
CALL
Norman Allan for gifts he
usually gives every year
. . . but he says sorry, not
in the business anymore
. . Rice is owned by
Natim's who is using its
own name instead of the
one Norman spent
millions on to promote.

year's dinner-dance by
