SMALL BEQUESTS
BUILD A
STRONG ISRAEL
If the tradition of including the Jewish
National Fund in the Will of every Jew were
invariably followed, sufficient resources would
be accumulated to ensure the future of the
young Jewish State on a sound basis of land
development, social welfare, and justice.
A bequest to the Jewish National Fund
should be as traditional as having a Blue Box
in one's home.
You may want your bequest to be
dedicated to afforestation, to a village, a
Nachlah, to a children's play area, to perpetual
yahrzeit or kaddish, or to some form, of
permanent tribute in the names of persons
dear to you.
Consult the Foundation for Jewish
National Fund, 22100 Greenfield, 968-0820.
They will gladly co-operate with you in
working out plans to meet your special
requirements, in strict privacy.

Enrollment of contributors to the scholarship fund of
Bar-Ilan University in Israel was spurred at a parlor
meeting held last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
David Hermelin. More than 60 associates of Detroit
Friends of Bar-Ilan University were inspired in their
efforts by an address by Dr. William Haber who is
shown here standing, left, with the host, David
Hermelin, who is chairman of the annual Bar-Ilan
dinner to be held Sept. 21 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Seated are, from left, Irving Nusbaum, co-chairman of
the Bar-Ilan dinner, and Nathan P. Rossen, whose
announced generous gift will establish the Nathan P.
Rossen wing at the new life science building on the Bar-
Ilan campus in Ramat Gan, Israel.
Germans Stage Nazi
Trial for Propaganda Only'
`
East
JERUSALEM — The
highly publicised East
Berlin trial of former SS
officer Herbert Drabant
for mass murder "is
largely a show trial, to
show up West Germany,"
in the opinion of Tuvya
Friedman, Director of the
Nazi War Crimes
Documentation Center.
"The very fact that
they announced they
would complete the trial
within a week shows they
are not very serious. It
would take weeks,
perhaps months, to run a
proper trial," he said.
Friedman noted that
the East Germans had not
imposed a statute of
limitation on Nazi crimes,
unlike West Germany,
when the final statute of
limitation is to go into
effect on January 1, 1980.
He noted that both the
East German justice
minister and attorne3
general had written to him
stressing the difference
getween the two
Germanys, and pointing
out that whereas in West
Germany criminals
brought to trial mostly got
away with light sentences,
or were let off completely,
in East Germany the death
penalty was applicable for

A Liberal Conservative Cong.

Nazi crimes.
The facts however, did
not bear this out,
Friedman said. All the big
trials for mass murders in
the six extermination
camps and in the Warsaw
ghetto, had been held by
the West Germans, he
said. The East Germans,
on the other hand,
claimed to have
"rehabilitated" former
Nazis, and some of them
were serving in their
secret police and in other
important official posts.
